Pray for Haiti

Many of you have heard about the three-story school collapse in Haiti. What a horrific event. The school is located in the town of Petionville, Haiti, about six miles down the mountain from the Baptist Haiti Mission. The day of the collapse, my brother Kyrk received a call from someone he didn't know asking him to assist in the rescue attempts. So Kyrk, my Dad, my brother-in-law Chris, Ken Schlorf (another missionary with BHM) and some of the Haitians piled in the back of a truck and went to help out. I imaginge, it was hard for rescue workers to get close enough to the site to assist. Thousands of shocked and greiving Haitians crowded the area. What a sad day!

As you can tell from the above picture, it was hard for rescue workers to get close enough to the site to assist. They eventually did, and were able to work for six hours. This is a picture of a boy Kyrk was able to assist in getting out alive. As you know from the news reports, many were not as fortunate. I think one of the hardest things for a rescue worker would be "rescuing" dead children. Pray for Haiti. Pray for all of the parents that lost children that day. Pray for those who still don't have closure. Pray for those who are working tirelessly to find the rest of the victims. Pray for President Preval and the leadership of Haiti.

Did you hear that the owner of the school who is a pastor has been arrested on charges of involuntary manslaughter, adding insult to injury.
